Impacting the university community

The main proposal of the "Learning while I am helping" project at the University of Tolima is to design and install 10 containers or warehouses to collect plastic bottles, with this idea we seek to educate and raise awareness of the university community recycling, reusing and reducing plastic. In addition, we contribute to the conservation of the environment and the physical facilities of our institution.

Then we'll show you how we make the containers step by step

Materials:

  1. plastic bottles
  2. Wire
  3. pliers or tweezers
  4. caudil
  5. Gloves

First step:

classify bottles by sizes, it is not necessary that they are all the same size, however it is important that they meet the same physical characteristics to achieve harmony in the final product.

Second step:

connect the caudil to the electricity and let warm, when the caudil is hot you need to open two holes at each end of the bottle

Third step:

insert the wire through the top holes of the bottles into a row of bottles. It is important to consider the dimensions and size of containers. One with the wire all the bottles at the top and then by the bottom. Repeat the same process considering the number of bottles and container size.

Fourth step:

Join all the bottles into rows or walls of bottles. Secure them with the wire firmly and strongly

Fifth step

When you have the bottles joined by blocks you should join them wirelessly so that the container stays standing. Finally you should make a base for the bottom.
